The APW8828 is a single-phase, constant-on-time,synchronous PWM controller, which drives N-channelMOSFETs. The APW8828 steps down high voltage togenerate low-voltage chipset or RAM supplies in notebookcomputers.The APW8828 provides excellent transient response andaccurate DC voltage output in either PFM or PWM Mode.In Pulse Frequency Mode (PFM), the APW8828 providesvery high efficiency over light to heavy loads with loading-modulated switching frequencies. In PWM Mode, theconverter works nearly at constant frequency for low-noiserequirements.The APW8828 is equipped with accurate positive current-limit, output under-voltage, and output over-voltageprotections, perfect for NB applications. The Power-On-Reset function monitors the voltage on VCC to preventwrong operation during power-on. The APW8828 has a1ms digital soft-start and built-in an integrated outputdischarge method for soft-stop. An internal integratedsoft-start ramps up the output voltage with programmableslew rate to reduce the start-up current. A soft-stop functionactively discharges the output capacitors with controlledreverse inductor current.The APW8828 is available in 10pin TDFN 3x3 package
