The accessory that suffers most on a laptop is the keyboard. Everyday use leads to fast wear and tear compared to the rest of the machine, especially when we eat above the laptop and crumbs drop on the keyboard or when we hit hard the keys with our fingers during use or even when we have an accident with our beverage and spill over it. Even WITHOUT mistreatment the keyboard is susceptible to dust, pet hair and even high humidity or high temperature in the room.

The most common symptoms that lead to a keyboard replacement are:

The process of replacing the keyboard involves the following steps:

1. Check the symptom before replacement

2. Disassemble the device

3. Remove the keyboard

4. Keyboard test on a special device

5. Install the new keyboard

6. Test for full functionality

7. Assembly of the device

However, many times during keyboard testing on the special device we find that the keyboard is fully functional. This means that if we install a new one, the keyboard function will not be restored.

The most common malfunctions found on a laptop when the keyboard has no problems are:

• Problem with operating system (Windows / OS X / Linux)

• Broken connector

• Motherboard problem

Even in this case, however, we don’t need to consider a new laptop. At ITSYS we undertake such repairs whether the problem is on the motherboard (Hardware) or the operating system (Software).

The keyboard replacement work costs 40€ because the laptops have the keyboard embedded to the plastic cover and needs to be completely disassembled, keyboard to be removed from the plastic and then install the new one back into the plastic cover. This process is difficult and time consuming and therefore the cost is higher.

This repair requires one business day. After the process is completed you will receive a written warranty of 6 months for the repair job and a 2 year warranty for the spare part.
