The NCP5388 is a two−, three−, or four−phase buck controllerwhich combines differential voltage and current sensing, andadaptive voltage positioning to power Intel’s most demandingPentium® IV Processors and low voltage, high current powersupplies. Dual−edge pulse−width modulation (PWM) combined withinductor current sensing reduces system cost by providing the fastestinitial response to transient loads thereby requiring less bulk andceramic output capacitors to satisfy transient load−line requirements.A high performance operational error amplifier is provided, whichallows for easy compensation of the system. The proprietary methodof Dynamic Reference Injection (Patent Pending) makes the erroramplifier compensation virtually independent of the system responseto VID changes, eliminating the need for tradeoffs between loadtransients and Dynamic VID performance.
